Soul Retrieval

Soul Loss is a shamanic term used to describe loss or disassociation of some part of your vital essence. This usually happens during a trauma such as emotional or physical abuse, an accident, loss of a loved one, assault, rape, incest, divorce, surgery, or wartime experiences.

The soul part leaves as a protective mechanismIn indigenous cultures, the soul part is retrieved by a shaman shortly after the trauma.  In our culture, people can go their entire lifetime without the soul part.

Someone may also lose part of their soul by giving it to a loved one through a desire to share themselves with another.  In some cases, a soul part may be stolen.

Symptoms that can result from soul loss include:

  • Feeling of incompleteness, or that something is missing
  • Feeling like you're not in control of your life
  • Feeling like a part of you "died" when something happened
  • Apathy, numbness, lack of vitality or fatigue
  • Difficulty staying present in your body or having memory gaps
  • Depression

A shaman journeys into non-ordinary reality to retrieve the lost soul part and blows it into your heart and crown chakras.  I can also guide you on a journey to retrieve your soul part using the method of the Inca shamans (see "Mending the Past and Healing the Future with Soul Retrieval" by Alberto Villoldo).

The benefits of a soul retrieval are variable, but the following are common:

  • Passion and energy for life increases
  • Increased ability to have healthier relationships
  • Easier to make decisions and changes in your life
  • Feel more fully present in your life and in your body

Instructions are given after the soul retrieval to honor and nurture the returned soul part.  A follow-up session is usually scheduled to help with integration of the soul part.
